Seasonal skin issues:
Seasonal skin issues happens with the change in environmental factors because our skin is highly responsive to external factors such as temperature, humidity and sunlight. Fluctuations within seasons cause serious skin issues.
In Spring
Fungal infections:
In spring, increase in humidity increase the chances of fungal infections. This condition can lead to conditions like athlete’s foot, jock itch, or yeast infections. Sweet combined with friction cloths provide breeding environment for fungal infections. It is important to keep body dry and wear breathable fabrics.
Windburn:
Windburn in spring occurs due to the high exposure of spring wind. Although spring wind are less harsh as compare to cold winds. Initial spring wind is relatively dry that cause itchy patches on skin. It can be prevent by less wind exposure and good intake of water. Affected skin may feel tender, sore or burning sensation.
Dehydration and dryness:
Dehydration and dryness is the most common issue in spring as skin needs times to adjust in changing environment. Dehydration refers to a lack of water in skin, on the flip side dryness cause because of lack of sebum production. These condition often feels like rough, flaky and itchy skin. Person with these conditions face tightness, dullness, redness and irritation on skin.
In Summer
Sun damage:
Too much exposure to sun can cause sun damage which can lead to suntan. This happens due to UV rays that damage skin directly and make it unhealthy. Sun damage can be prevent by using sun protecting creams (sunblock) or by using protecting cloths. Too much sun damage can leads to chronic conditions like cancer.
 Oiliness:
Due to the increase in humidity skin tends to produce too much oil which leads to the shiny and dull complexion of skin. Sweeting increase too much in summer in result more oily skin, combination of oil and sweat can clog the pores. To manage oiling use gentle cleanser or exfoliate skin 2 to 3 times a day.
Acne:
Acne cause because of too much production of sebum. In summer due to sweeting and massive production of oil individual might face acne issues. Acne is the most challenging situation for young people, although it is the most common issue and can be treated by special care. Hydrating skin regularly and using oil free moisturize helps a lot to win battel with acne.
In Winter
Chapped lips:
Chapped lips also termed as cheilitis, common condition in winters where the lips become dry, cracked and sometimes sores. Low humidity in winter strip moisture from lips and make them dry. Vitamin deficiency, allergic reaction and medication like diuretics, antihistamines also make lips chapped. Symptoms include dryness, cracking, peeling, redness and irritation, bleeding and pain.
 Cracked heels:
Cracked heels also known as heel fissures, common feet problem where skin around heel becomes dry, thick and eventually cracks. It can lead to pain, discomfort or sometimes even infection. Patients with medical conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and hypothyroidism are more likely to get crack heels. People with crack heels may face dry, thick, crack, pain and discomfort in heel area.
Chilblains:
Chilblains also known as pernio or perniosis, skin condition happens when skin expose to cold and less humid condition. In this condition, small blood vessels becomes swell. Typically affects areas like fingers, toe, ear and nose. Chilblains is most common in older age adults, because of poor circulation or thin skin. Warm and baggy clothing, maintaining hydration in skin, keep moving can helps a lot to prevent chilblains.
In Autumn
Dull skin:
Dull skin is the main concern in autumn as the change in weather damage skin natural glow. Although, the natural turnover of skin become low with age and this concern might increase because of seasonal changes. To avoid dull skin in autumn, it is crucial to maintain good skin care and use hydrating moisturizers.
 Psoriasis flare up:
Psoriasis flare up is a chronic condition in which skin cells starts growing rapidly leading to the thick, red, patchy and uneven skin. Vitamin D helps to regulate immune system, less exposure to sun due to seasonal change cause system Vitamin D deficiency in skin, which leads to the frequent flare up. Intake of vitamin supplements and exposure to sun to some extend cause decrees in psoriasis.
Keratosis:
Keratosis are of two types keratosis pilaris and actinic keratosis. These conditions happens when skin stops producing enough keratin protein or by more skin exposure because of less production of skin essentials skin may make bumps that are more prominent on skin by skin becomes rough and more irritating. By using moisturizers rich in lactic or glycolic acid help exfoliate and hydrate skin which case skin less damage and less risk of keratosis.
