    Essential Oral Hygiene Tips: Brushing, Mouthwash, and More for a Healthier Smile

    Oral hygiene is essential to keep your teeth, gums and mouth clean and healthy. It is also important to prevent dental problems like cavities, gum disease and bad breath. Bad breath develop bad impression of a person in both professional and personal life.

    Brushing:

    Brushing teeth is most important step in maintaining oral hygiene. It is crucial to brush your teeth for 2 times a day. Use toothbrush with soft bristles and replace your brush after every 2 to 3 months. Always cover your brush with brush cap to avoid germs. Brush your teeth for 2 minutes and cover your teeth area and tongue as well. Brushing tongue helps in maintaining good breath.

    Mouthwash:

    Mouthwash helps to prevent cavities, reduce plaque and freshen your breath. People with dental issues mostly prefer to use mouthwash but it’s not only for them but also for normal individual with no dental issues. Mouthwash having antimicrobial or fluoride are good for mouth, these mouth do not cause any infection. Swish for about 3o sec, after swishing avoid eating anything immediately.

    Avoid tobacco:

    Smoking and tobacco makes decay tooth and leads to the gum cancer. It also cause lungs cancer and heart diseases. Tobacco is slow poison cause chronic damage internally and externally. It also increase the risk if oral cancer, which leads to the complete loss of teeth. Tobacco also cause discoloration and left yellow or brown stain on teeth, because of high amount of nicotine and tar.

    Regular dental visits:

    Visit your dentist regular, about twice a year. Dentist can detect early signs of oral issues like cavities or gum diseases. Dental cleansing also helpful to maintain good oral health. Dentist clean plaque and tartar professionally which cannot be possible with regular brushing. Individuals with heart diseases, diabetes and stroke should visit doctor to maintain oral health, these diseases can affect oral health due to week immune system.

    Hydration:

    Hydration is important to improve overall health and contribute to oral health as well. Stay hydrate helps to improve the saliva production, saliva production also helps in reducing risk of digestive issue , a dry mouth (xerostomia) leads to the high risk of tooth decay. Hydration also help to prevent bad breath drinking water flush all the food particles and bacteria that helps in keeping mouth fresh.
